The learning of mathematics can go beyond the acquisition of facts and rules; it is a subject which is constantly being developed, from community to community, and from one generation to the next. This text presents a philosophical yet classroom approach to mathematics teaching, and examines how mathematics is taught across the curriculum and age range in primary schools.
