Corb understands the consequences of recklessness in space. Earth’s Governments and the Core Systems want to control him, his team, and the new spacecraft. They will stop at nothing to gain control, even if it means acts of assassination. The threats from within are manageable. The perils from the unknown new worlds are the overwhelming focus.

The starship Jenny’s crew learned they no longer play by the norms they learned on Earth. They must adapt to the cultures they encounter. Human value systems are a disadvantage when visiting other worlds.

With the mission spiraling out of control, Corb becomes more relaxed. The more chaos and uncertainty, the more comfortable and calm he becomes. Corb knows his team’s ability to control space and time is their greatest strength.

He knows killing has become a necessary part of the mission.
